Scolopax rusticola

Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)

Origins: Breeds across temperate and northern Europe and Asia, and is migratory over most of its range. A regular vagrant to Iceland but does not breed there.

Record Details: One or two records for Newfoundland. A specimen was collected in St. John’s on January 9, 1862 while another was reportedly taken off the northeast coast in 1867 (details scarce).
