Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)

Origins: Breeds on the prairies and dry grasslands of central North America (including southern Alberta and Saskatchewan), wintering south to Mexico. It is a very rare visitor to the east.

Record Details: One record for Newfoundland, of a female reported from Ramea between September 7-12, 1972. A distant bird photographed at Cape Race on June 5, 2010 resembled this species but could not be confirmed.
