Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)

Origins: Breeds in arctic Europe and Asia, wintering primarily in Africa and south Asia. It is a rare but regular vagrant to eastern North America.

Record Details: One record for Newfoundland. A juvenile was found and photographed at Renews on September 13, 2015. Despite lots of searching, it was spotted only briefly the following day and never again.
