Tringa erythropus
Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)
Origins: Breeds across northern Scandinavia and Asia, migrating south to temperate Europe, tropical Asia and Africa for the winter. It is a casual vagrant to North America.
Record Details: One record for Newfoundland – an individual in breeding plumage, observed at Newman Sound, Terra Nova National Park from May 15-21, 1974. A very compelling but unconfirmed report also came from Pine’s Cove, Great Northern Peninsula on September 9, 1982.
