Pterodroma feae

Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)

Origins: Breeds on the Cape Verde and Madeira Islands and is considered a rare visitor off the coast of North America. It is closely related to Zino’s Petrel and may not safely be identified in the field (hence most records are considered “Fea’s/Zino Petrel”).

Record Details: One or two records from Newfoundland. One individual was well-studied and described ~170km south of the Burin Peninsula on August 13, 2000 while another was reported from the same general area on July 9, 2007.
