Rallus elegans
Status: Very Rare (< 5 records)

Record Details: One to three records for Newfoundland. A specimen was collected in St. John’s on October 20, 1935 (later lost in a fire), while a large rail best fitting this species was observed at Cape Race on October 12, 1996.
